Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and President of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), S Supongmeren Jamir, on Tuesday brought to light the prolonged delay in the Dimapur to Tizit new railway line project during the ongoing Parliament session.

Raising the matter through a written submission under Rule 377, Jamir highlighted that the 257-kilometre project, which was taken up by the Ministry of Railways (North East Region) in 2013–14, has seen no financial progress even after more than a decade. The railway line was sanctioned at an estimated cost of Rs 4,27,000 crore.

Despite its strategic importance, Jamir noted that the financial progress of the project remains at “zero,” and called on the Union Minister of Railways to take urgent steps “to take immediate steps and ensure the early implementation of the project.”

In a separate development, the Nagaland MP also joined INDIA bloc legislators in Delhi to protest against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, standing “in solidarity with the people.”
