Mokokchung, 29 April (MTNews): A Multi-Utility Outdoor Stadium at Süngratsü Sports Complex was dedicated by Keihungle, wife of Late Dr Imtiwapang Aier, former MLA near Impur junction on 29 April.
Nungsangenba Longchar stated in the Complex Committee report that the Sungratsü Sports Complex began in 2000 with a resolution passed by the Süngratsü Senso Mungdang. Following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with the land donors in May 2001, earth moving and leveling were purely funded by donations from Süngratsü Village Council and well-wishers at an estimated cost of Rs 20.39 lakh, he added. Süngratsü Sports Complex was inaugurated in May 2011 by former MLA Nungsangyapang.
As a result, the complex’s physical infrastructures (Multi-Utility Outdoor Stadium) were initiated by Late Dr Imtiwapang Aier, former Speaker of NLA, funded under North Eastern Council and implemented by RMSA.
In her remarks, Keihungle stated that her late husband was very enthusiastic about the creation of the Multi-Utility Outdoor Stadium at Süngratsü Sports Complex because he believed that the complex will benefit the people in the future.
She also recognized the people of Süngratsü’s cohesiveness in self-funding the development of the Süngartsü Sports Complex and stated that the unity shown by the people should be a continual process.
“I believe in the long run the complex will not only facilitate sports activities and grooming of sportspersons but also provide income generation avenues for the people during various events held in the complex,” she said.
Earlier, dedicatory prayer was pronounced by I Kilen Longchar, Pastor Sungratsu Baptist Church while Lemasashi Ozukum, President Süngratsü Senso Mungdang and C Wati Walling, Convener, Tourism & Ground Committee also spoke at the event.
