The Naga Army of the NSCN has claimed that the recent clash in Assam between its cadres and Indian security forces has “once again pushed the hard-earned Indo-Naga peace process to the brink of collapse.” In a press statement issued by the Publicity and Information Bureau (PIB) of the General Headquarters, Naga Army, the group alleged a “premeditated attack” on its camp by Indian security forces and Assam Police on April 29.
The gunfight reportedly occurred “at the adjoining forest area of New Kubin village and Herakilua village,” targeting “one of the cluster camps of Naga Army under floi Hau Battalion.” According to the statement, “casualties from both sides have been incurred” during the “heavy exchange of fire.”

NSCN claimed that “villagers were not allowed to come near the spot where bodies of deceased and injured army men were loaded into their trucks.” Citing eyewitness accounts, the group said “dozens of Indian soldiers were either killed or fatally wounded during the gun battle.” From the NSCN side, “three of our valiant soldiers went down fighting till their last breathe.
