SC Jamir said today that Nagaland’s political situation is in chaos and that there is scarcity of truth in Naga society. The former Governor of Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Odisha, and Ex-Chief Minister of Nagaland was speaking at the inaugural of the Aongza Ki, a community hall cum office complex of the Aongza Ward Council, Mokokchung on Friday.

While stressing that every section of Naga society longs for peace, progress and prosperity, Jamir also said that Naga people should be realistic. Commenting on the talks between NSCN (IM) and the Government of India, Jamir said that the Framework Agreement of August 3, 2015 was signed after 20 years of negotiations and that there was no mention of sovereignty, integration, flag and constitution on it.

Jamir also made reference to the speech made by Late Gen. (Retd) Khole Konyak during the Naga consultative meeting at Agri Expo, Dimapur on Feb 29, 2012 where he quoted Konyak as saying, “A redefined goal of the Nagas must be derived through correct understanding of the situation. A rational and practical approach today will safeguard future generation Nagas. Let us be wise.”

Jamir went on to say that the Naga political issue is an issue that concerns all Nagas, and that every Naga has the right to voice his opinion, and that it is not a “private company” that is exclusive to one person or group.

Exhorting the Ao community, he encouraged them to adopt a 21st-century mindset, excel in all fields and become indispensable.

Earlier in the program, Jamir unveiled the plaque of Aongza Ki, a 3-storyed structure. Speeches were also delivered by Metsubo Jamir, Nagaland Minister for Rural Development, as Guest of Honor, and Sharingain Longkumer, Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly, and Limanungsang, President, All Ward Union Mokokchung Town at the inauguration program. R. Longritemjen Ao, Chairman, Aongza Ward Council, delivered the chairman’s address, and Rev. Ponen Longchar, Pastor MTBA, pronounced the dedicatory prayer.
