The Naga Students’ Union Bangalore (NSUB) celebrated its 55th Annual Freshers’ Meet on September 28, 2024, at St. Joseph’s University Auditorium, Bengaluru, under the theme “Nagas with a Purpose: Fostering the Culture of Giving Back.”
The event was a resounding success, drawing a crowd of over 1,500 attendees, including more than 150 freshers, dignitaries, and representatives from various student organizations, a press release from NSUB informed.
In his address, chief guest Temjen Imna Along, Minister of Tourism and Higher Education, Government of Nagaland, underscored the value of education and unity within the Naga community, urging students to pursue excellence both individually and collectively.
The event also featured voices from leaders like ANSAM President Luikang Luckson and NSF President Medovi Rhi, who spoke in absentia, emphasizing the need for cohesion and service, particularly in the context of the challenges faced by the Naga people.
The guest of honor, Sarah Fathima, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Government of Karnataka, also addressed the crowd on overcoming language barriers and contributing positively to the community.
In her welcome address, NSUB President Nungsangmongla Ozukum spoke passionately about the event’s theme. She said, “Our aim is to create a lasting impact here, fostering goodwill and cooperation between the Naga students and the people of this city.”
The Freshers’ Meet also featured a vibrant showcase of Naga traditions, including energetic tribal dances, a cultural fashion show, soulful musical performances, and artistic displays celebrating the community’s cultural heritage.
More than just a celebration of culture, the Freshers’ Meet 2024 reaffirmed the Naga community’s commitment to unity, service, and purpose, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the Nagas embarking on their journey in Bangalore.
