Mokokchung, September 9 (MTNews): The Union government is reportedly ready to incorporate the Yehzabo (Naga Constitution) into the Indian constitution and recognize the Naga flag for civil and cultural functions.

 

“The Yehzabo will be incorporated into the Indian constitution by presenting a Bill in Parliament. As far as the flag is concerned, it will only be used for civil and cultural functions, but not in any government function,” The Hindu quoted an anonymous official as saying on Friday.

 

A delegation of the Core Committee on Naga Political Issue led by chief minister Neiphiu Rio is currently in New Delhi, including deputy chief minister Y. Patton to hold talks with the government on the issue. The talks will reportedly be held with former special director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Centre’s interlocutor A.K. Mishra.

 

Meanwhile, a meeting scheduled for Friday between Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Nagaland delegation led by Rio to discuss the Naga political issue has been postponed.

 

Nonetheless, Rio and company have been busy meeting union ministers over the past few days. Rio in an update said that he along with Minister Neiba Kronu called on Union Minister of Housing, Urban Affairs and Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep S Puri on Friday and had a very positive discussion on resuming petroleum exploration and production activities in Nagaland and other developmental issues.

 

Neiphiu Rio on Friday along with Neiba Kronu called on Hardeep S Puri, Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs and Petroleum and Natural Gas.

Rio also updated that they met union minister for Railways, Communications, Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw. Rio also said in another update that he along with S Pangnyu Phom and Neiba Kronu met and had a fruitful and positive meeting with Minister for Culture, Tourism and DoNER, G Kishan Reddy on the developmental needs of Nagaland.
