Nagaland football team defeated Kerala 2-1 in the final match to lift the 40+ Men’s football title of the National Masters Games 2024 held in Goa on Tuesday evening. It was a jubilant moment for the senior team, which traveled all the way from Nagaland to play in Goa, demonstrating their winning mentality by defeating the Kerala team in the final match.
The team was led by KDFA president Mhasi Yhome, who served as the captain of the Nagaland team. His teammates performed exceptionally well, securing a title in the National Masters Games. The match hero, Vizorü Peseyie, scored again in the final match to give Nagaland the victory.
During the match, Seyiekhrietuo Suohu scored the first goal in the 5th minute but conceded a goal in the 9th minute, allowing Kerala to equalize the scoreline. However, the talisman Vizorü Peseyie scored again in the 14th minute, securing the title for the team.
The 40+ Men’s football team from Kohima consists of 16 players, including Roko Angami, who is also the president of Nagaland Football Coaches Association and Director of Coaches at Nagaland Football Association, and Mhasimhalie M Yhome, president of Kohima District Football Association.
Other players include Viliebeizo Liezietsu, Vizovor Liezietsu, Vikepelhou Dzüvichü, Seyiekhrietuo Suohu, Pezavituo George Vizo, Vizorü Peseyie, Akho Sorünuo, Khriengulie Rio, Kevilebei Paphino, Burakum Ao, Diethozolie Peseyie, Thepfukhrietuo Rüpreo, Thangchapu Rongmei, Kechangulie Dul, Vekuzo Zhotso, with Khriesazo Liezietsu as the team manager.
