Kohima, 22 February (MTNews): Nagaland is all set to host the Khelo India University Games 2023 at IG Stadium, Kohima. Addressing the media on 22nd February 2024, Secretary of Youth Resources & Sports, Anthony Ngullie, stated that it was an honor and privilege for Nagaland to host the Khelo India University Games. He added that the state is fully prepared to conduct wrestling as part of the games.
The Director of Youth Resources & Sports, Kethosituo Sekhose, informed that approximately 240 athletes and 80 officials will participate in the games. He also mentioned that guests have been arriving since 19th February, and reception desks have been set up at Dimapur railway station and the airport to welcome the athletes and officials.
Sekhose explained that for men, there will be two styles: Greco-Roman style and freestyle, while for women, it will only be freestyle.
The games are scheduled to begin with the commencement program on 23rd February 2024 at IG Stadium, Kohima, where Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will grace the occasion. The games will conclude on 25th February, and the guests will return on 26th February. The 4th edition of the Khelo India University Games is being organized by the North Eastern states, with Assam as the main host.
