Mokokchung, 20 February (MTNews): The Nagaland Athletics Association (NAA) has announced the names of 44 athletes selected for the intensive coaching camp for the upcoming Northeast Olympic Games 2024, scheduled to be held in Nagaland from March 18 to March 23.

The selected athletes include 12 from Kohima district, 9 each from Phek and Noklak districts, 4 from Peren district, 3 from Dimapur district, 2 each from Chümoukedima and Tuensang districts, and 1 each from Tseminyu, Mokokchung, and Mon districts.

The lone athlete selected from Mokokchung is Merensoba Kichu, who recently won Silver in the men’s 4x100M relay race and Bronze in the men’s 400M race at the Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games 2024.

In a press release, NAA informed that the coaching camp will start from February 21 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima. The camp will be conducted by AFI deputed coaches Om Praksh Singh Karhana, Olympian and former National record holder in shot put; IA Shivanand, Indian Railways coach; and Deepak Dilhon, Delhi Sports University coach.
