The Nagaland Basketball Association (NBA) has announced state trials for the North East Elite Basketball League (U19 Men), scheduled to be held on May 9, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Indoor Stadium, Medziphima.

According to the NBA, the trials are part of a wider initiative jointly organised by ABC Basketball Development League Pvt. Ltd., ACG, and state basketball associations across the Northeast. Eligible players born on or after January 1, 2007, have been invited to participate. Participants are required to produce original Aadhaar cards and birth certificates for verification, and must be permanent residents of Nagaland aged above 15 years.

A total of 15 players will be shortlisted from the state trials to represent Nagaland in the final selection process to be held in Aizawl, Mizoram. The official selection trials are scheduled for May 18 and 19, followed by a draft pick ceremony on May 20. The selected players will report for the team camp on June 19, with the league set to be held from June 22 to July 2 in Aizawl.

The association informed that selected players will be provided accommodation, food, and hospitality during the trials in Aizawl, while travel reimbursement will be given as per 3-tier AC train fare norms. The draft ceremony will assign players to 10 franchise teams.

Calling it a major opportunity, NBA Honorary Secretary Sentiningsang Longkumer said, “This is a historic opportunity for our young athletes to showcase their talent on a professional platform. The league is designed to elevate grassroots basketball in the Northeast, and we are committed to ensuring Nagaland’s brightest players seize this chance.”

The North East Elite Basketball League (U19 Men) is envisaged as a competitive platform for emerging talent across the northeastern states, aimed at providing structured exposure and pathways into mainstream Indian basketball.
