The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) marked its Golden Jubilee (1974-2024) with a grand celebratory program on November 16, 2024, at Capital Cultural Hall, Kohima. The event was graced by the Chairman of Assam State School Education Board, RC Jain IAS (Retd) as the Guest of Honour and Advisor to School Education and SCERT, Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, as the Special Guest.
In his address, Dr Yhome commended the NBSE for its visionary approach to education and acknowledged the vital role it played in shaping the lives of countless successful individuals. He expressed satisfaction with how the board has evolved over the years, adapting to new educational policies and responding to the modern needs of students. Highlighting the importance of vocational education, he emphasized the ongoing efforts to align the curriculum with the demand for employability. Dr Yhome concluded by congratulating the NBSE for 50 successful years and urged the Board to continue scaling new heights, serving as an inspiration to other boards across the country.
RC Jain, in his speech, celebrated the milestone as not merely a passage of time but as a reflection of the board’s commitment to excellence in education. He praised the NBSE for creating an inclusive environment that fosters intellectual curiosity, moral values, and character development. Jain also highlighted the importance of honoring educators and students, the pillars of the board’s success, and urged the NBSE to renew its commitment to providing quality education.
Teisovi Gerad Meyase, Assistant Professor and Controller of Examinations at Kohima Science College, Jotsoma, and HSLC topper of 1999, expressed his pride in the board’s contributions to the educational landscape of Nagaland. He acknowledged the board’s pivotal role in shaping the future of students and its dedication to advancing quality education and embracing innovation.
MK Arora, Joint Secretary of the Council of Boards of School Education in India, lauded NBSE for being one of the most progressive boards in the country. He highlighted the board’s role in introducing the grading system in the HSLC exams and praised its efforts in providing holistic education while maintaining standards on par with the rest of India.
Kevileno Angami, Commissioner and Secretary of School Education and SCERT, Nagaland, congratulated the NBSE for its remarkable achievement. She reflected on the board’s 50 years of dedicated service to the people of Nagaland, emphasizing how it had shaped young minds and nurtured growth. Angami honored the pioneers who laid the foundation for the NBSE’s continued success and urged the board to see every challenge as an opportunity for further growth and resilience.
The event also featured the release of the Jubilee Souvenir and Memento by Dr Yhome, accompanied by the Guest of Honour, Chairperson Asano Sekhose, and other officials. Chairperson Sekhose delivered the welcome address, while Rangumbuing Nsarangbe, Secretary of NBSE, proposed the vote of thanks. The celebration marked a momentous occasion in the board’s history, reflecting its ongoing commitment to shaping the future of education in Nagaland.
