Mokokchung, 13 July (MTNews): The Nagaland Chamber Choir won two gold medals at the 12th World Choir Games in Gangneung city, South Korea, which took place from 3 to 13 July. The Nagaland team won medals in the categories of Música Contemporánea Voices and Mixed Chamber Music. The Nagaland Chamber Choir, with a total of 30 members, is India’s sole Choir that has qualified for the Championship events.

Congratulating the Nagaland Chamber Choir, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said the team has made Nagaland and India proud. Rio also wished them more success in all future endeavors.

 

Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton also extended his congratulations to the team and said that clinching two gold medals at the event signifies their exemplary talent, dedication, and professionalism. He said their achievement has elevated not only the cultural richness of Nagaland but has also glorified the nation.

 

Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang and various other Ministers and Advisors also conveyed their greetings and good wishes to the team.

 

The team was led by Hito Kiho as the choir conductor. The international choir contest was organised by Interkultur Foundation.
