The Nagaland Congress has been focusing on revitalizing the party’s leadership structure and setting the stage for the 2028 elections. As part of the statewide tour program for Christopher Tilak, AICC Secretary In Charge of Nagaland, Tilak, along with Supongmeren Jamir, MP and NPCC President, alongside key party leaders, including Khriedi Theunuo, Working President of NPCC, met with officials of the Wokha District Congress Committee (DCC) at Congress Bhavan, Wokha, today.
Jamir, who played a crucial role in the discussions, stated that capable leaders should be elected, especially among PCC members, as they play a crucial role at the constituency level. He assured that restructuring the party is aimed at reviving Congress in Nagaland and that leadership decisions will be based on capability, adding that while restructuring may cause misunderstandings, no one will be left behind.
Khriedi Theunuo, Working President of NPCC, further outlined the party’s plans under the Roadmap 2025-26, which aims to strengthen the party’s base and prepare for the 2028 elections. He highlighted that the roadmap has already received the endorsement of Rahul Gandhi and will guide the party’s statewide efforts in the coming years.
“This statewide tour has been started with a commitment to serve the people of Nagaland,” Theunuo affirmed.
Tilak emphasized the importance of action and highlighted that just as Mahatma Gandhi had traveled across India to mobilize people, Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra is reaching out to the masses today. He stressed four key aspects of politics: a strong narrative, effective leadership, a robust organization, and active fieldwork.
He further underscored the need for the party to communicate a strong message to the people of Nagaland and have leaders who can speak effectively. He also criticized the BJP for misleading the people and failing to focus on employment and development, and exhorted the party workers present instead to connect with the voters based on the principles of truth and accountability.
The ongoing state tour will be held in Mokokchung today, 20 February and will proceed to Kohima later at noon.
