Kohima, 7 May (MTNews): The Combine Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN) has issued a memorandum to the Chief Engineer, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) to terminate 8 Junior Engineers (JE) and 1 Program Officer appointed after 6 June 2016 within the next 30 days. Failing to comply, the Association threatened to disclose the names of the illegal appointees and address the issue democratically through appropriate means.

According to CTAN, the PHED department in a memorandum from P&AR dated 06/06/2016 has clearly stated that the appointment of all Ad-hoc/casual/temporary appointments as banned. And, therefore, the CTAN demands the office to terminate the contract appointees.

“This is in connection with the RTI reply Dated 30/03/2024 Vide file no. PHE-10/R11/1/2016/177,” it said, appealing the Department to send those posts for requisition to NPSC.

The Department must not make excuses of shortage of manpower and practice illegal appointments as the NPSC Rule no. 9(4) (State. Civil & other services) clearly states that every Department must send requisition of vacancies likely to arise in the next 12 months, CTAN said. The Department is expected to do the necessary work of giving out proper, timely data on post vacancies, it added.
