Dimapur and Chümoukedima secured commanding wins in their respective matches of the 5th Late G. Rio Memorial Men’s U19 Inter-District Cricket Tournament 2025 onTuesday.
Dimapur crushes Tuensang by 284 runs in a record-breaking win
Dimapur registered a crushing 284-run victory over Tuensang in a lopsided match at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium, registering a record-breaking win. Batting first, Dimapur posted a commanding total of 308 in 47.4 overs. Anirudh Yadav anchored the innings with a fluent 102 off 86 balls, supported by Shiva Yadav’s solid 61. Their partnership laid the foundation for Dimapur’s dominance, despite spirited efforts from Tuensang bowlers Shumritsa and Phololi, who picked up three wickets each. Shumritsa claimed 3/57 in 10 overs, and Phololi finished with 3/75 in 10 overs.
In reply, Tuensang’s batting crumbled under pressure, managing only 24 runs in 11.5 overs, one of the lowest totals of the tournament. Zakaria Hussain was the top scorer with just 5 runs, as Dimapur’s Samir Ali wreaked havoc with a sensational 6 for 3 in 3.5 overs. His match-winning spell secured Dimapur’s emphatic victory, the tournament’s biggest winning margin in runs, and earned him the Player of the Match award.
Chümoukedima Downs Zunheboto by 5 Wickets
Meanwhile, Chümoukedima secured a convincing 5-wicket win over Zunheboto in their group stage match at Sovima Cricket Ground. Zunheboto, opting to bat first, managed 124 runs in 32 overs, with Nikato Zhimo top-scoring with a composed 53 off 55 balls. Chümoukedima’s bowlers maintained pressure throughout, led by Bendang Wapang, who claimed 4 wickets for 50 runs in 8 overs to restrict the scoring.
Chümoukedima’s chase was steady and calculated, reaching the target in 33 overs. Keshav Thakur anchored the innings with a gritty 42 off 84 balls, while Aloto Sumi’s explosive 41 off 24 deliveries ensured a smooth finish. Despite efforts from Zunheboto’s bowlers, including Romit Saha’s 1/14, the total proved too low to defend. Bendang Wapang was named Player of the Match for his pivotal all-round performance.
