Withdrawal of extra Government vehicles

 

Kohima, February 4 (MTNews): In view of the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct for the ensuing General Election to Nagaland Legislative Assembly, 2023, the Chief Electoral Officer Nagaland has directed that there will be a total ban on the use of Government vehicles for Electioneering purposes.

 

Stating that Ministers, Advisors, MLAs, etc., are entitled to use their official vehicles only for commuting from their official residence to their office for official work, all the Administrative Heads of Department and Heads of Department of the Government of Nagaland have been requested to immediately withdraw all the extra vehicles attached to their respective Minister, Advisor, etc., in order to avoid misuse of Government vehicles for campaigning/electioneering during the election period.

 

 

Seizure by enforcement agencies

 

 

Kohima, February 4 (MTNews): The office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland in a press release has informed that the monetary value of the Progressive Seizure made by the various Enforcement Agencies both Central and State from the date of announcement till the 3rd of February 2023 is Rs.28,96,37,474.

 

The various seized items include cash worth Rs 2.4 crore; IMLF (40925.65 Litres) worth Rs 3.02 crore; Drugs/Narcotics (3.06 Kgs) worth Rs 21.7 crore; other contraband = Rs 28.9 crore and freebies and other items worth Rs 1.7 crore.

 

It was further informed that the seizure made on 3rd February included liquor 3464.46 ltrs worth Rs 22,71,318, drugs/narcotics seized-brown sugar 0.003 kg, SP capsule 78 nos and sunflower (drug) 0.05612 worth Rs 40,16,850, freebies and other items worth Rs 17,95,200 totaling monetary value of Rs 80,83,368.

 

 

Nagaland Police continues conducting raids and searches

 

 

Kohima, February 4 (MTNews): A total of 3,068 liters and 7,843 nos. of seized IMFL were destroyed by the Nagaland Police on different occasions, in the presence of Magistrate, Dobashis and others, a press release from SP (SCRB) & PRO PHQ stated.

 

The raids and searches have been conducted by the Nagaland Police in compliance with the Model Code of Conduct and in its continuous effort to serve better.

 

Of the total quantity of IMFL destroyed, 7843 nos of IMFL were from CP Dimapur; 2494 liters from Mokokchung DEF and 339 liters from Longleng DEF.

 

“Nagaland Police further seek for public cooperation and support during this time in order to ensure free and fair elections,” an update received here said.

 

Six candidates file nominations

 

Mokokchung, February 4 (MTNews): The Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland has informed that six candidates representing different political parties have filed their nominations today from their respective assembly constituencies.

 

PHED Minister, Jacob Zhimomi filed his nomination paper today at DC’s office in Chumoukedima in the presence of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswas Sarma and state BJP in-charge Nalin Kohli. Zhimomi is contesting from 4-Ghaspani-I on the BJP ticket.

 

The Rising People’s Party (RPP) candidate Joel Naga filed his nomination at 12-Tseminyu Assembly Constituency. Gwalozu Kath of RPP also filed his nomination as stand-by candidate under 12-Tseminyu Assembly Constituency.

 

Meanwhile, Vikheho Swu from NDPP filed his nomination for 13-Pughoboto Assembly Constituency and Salhoutuonuo Kruse also from NDPP filed her nomination for 8-Western Angami Assembly Constituency, while Dr Neisatuo Mero also filed as Independent candidate under 16-Pfutsero Assembly Constituency. Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will file his nomination paper on Monday at ADC Chiephobozou.
