Nagaland women’s football team defeated Meghalaya 5-0 in the last league match of the tournament, advancing to the semifinals of the ongoing Sentinel Cup (Women) 2024 in Sonitpur, Assam, on Friday.

The tournament, organized by the Assam Rifles, featured teams from the North Eastern states, including Assam, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Tripura, Nagaland, and Arunachal Pradesh, along with the Director General Assam Rifles Women Football Team.

The Nagaland women’s football club “Naga Damsels” is representing the state at the first northeast Sentinel Cup (Women) 2024. The team is led by state coach Kevilebei Zashumo and manager Viliebeizo Liezietsu.

In the last match of Pool B, which was also the final league match of the championship, Nagaland defeated Meghalaya 5-0, with Neke Konyak scoring a hat-trick and Chimmushe and Watijungla each adding a goal for Nagaland.

Nagaland lost 5-1 against Arunachal Pradesh but won 6-0 against Mizoram in their second match. Nagaland secured a spot in the semifinals as the runners-up of Pool B and will now face Director General Assam Rifles (DGAR), the winners of Pool A, on July 8.
