The Centre on Wednesday released an additional ₹1,01,603 crore as tax devolution to states to boost festive season spending and welfare, besides the regular monthly devolution scheduled for October 10, the Finance Ministry announced.
Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Finance Ministry for the release of funds. “This timely support will greatly aid development, welfare, and capital expenditure in Nagaland and across the nation,” he posted on X.
Nagaland received ₹578 crore as part of this allocation.
The Ministry of Finance said the funds were released a few days before the normal monthly devolution, which is scheduled for October 10, just ahead of Diwali. “In view of upcoming festive season and to enable States to accelerate capital spending and finance their development/ welfare related expenditure, the Union Government has released an additional tax devolution of ₹ 1,01,603 crore to State Governments on 1st October, 2025, in addition to the normal monthly devolution due to be released on 10th October 2025,” the ministry said in a statement.
Among the states, Uttar Pradesh received the largest share at ₹18,227 crore, followed by Bihar with ₹10,219 crore and Madhya Pradesh with ₹7,976 crore. Goa received the lowest share at ₹392 crore, while Sikkim was allotted ₹394 crore.
The move is expected to help states accelerate development initiatives and meet expenditure needs during the festive season.
