Kohima, 4 August (MTNews): The Nagaland Government has taken the decision to withhold the salaries of seven departments after they failed to furnish the details of deposit of interests earned in the Single Nodal Agency (SNA) Account as directed. The Finance Department issued a notification on Tuesday, outlining the defaulting departments and the consequences of their non-compliance.

The departments that have been identified for failing to meet the directive include Civil Police, School Education, Rural Development, Social Security and Welfare, Co-operation, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, and Technical Education.

The Finance Department stated that despite providing ample time and repeated reminders, both written and verbal, the aforementioned departments have not submitted the required information regarding the deposit of interests earned in the SNA Account until 31 March 2023.

As a consequence of their non-compliance, the Government of India has blocked the release of funds earmarked for Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment, 2023-24. The notification issued by the Finance Department further explained, “In view of this, the salaries/wages of the Directorates of the defaulting Departments/demands are hereby withheld till they furnish the requisite information to this Department and further order is issued.”
