Mahendragarh , 14 March (MTNews): Governor of Nagaland La Ganesan graced the Seminar of New Education Policy of India & the Enhancement of the Higher Education Institutions held at Prof Mool Chand Sharma Auditorium at Central University of Haryana on 14 March 2024.
Speaking during the seminar, the Governor said that New Education Policy represents a transformative initiative aimed at revolutionizing the education landscape of the country. He emphasized that the NEP 2020 is a visionary document that recognizes the challenges and shortcomings of the existing system and proposes bold and innovative solutions to address them.
The Governor underscored that one of the key pillars of the NEP 2020 is its emphasis on promoting holistic development and lifelong learning. He mentioned that it recognizes that education is not only just about acquiring knowledge but it is also about developing the skills, values, and attitudes that are essential for success in the 21st century. The policy seeks to foster creativity, critical thinking, communication skills, and social-emotional learning, ensuring that every learner is equipped to navigate the complexities of the modern world. To this end, he said that the policy emphasizes the importance of vocational education, internships, and apprenticeships, providing students with real-world experience and practical skills that are in high demand in the job market.
In addition to foundational skills, the Governor said that NEP 2020 also places a strong emphasis on experiential learning and the integration of technology in education. The Governor revealed that it advocates for a more hands-on, inquiry-based approach that encourages active engagement and problem-solving skills. By leveraging technology, the Governor pointed out that NEP 2020 aims to make learning more accessible, interactive, and personalized, thereby catering to the diverse learning needs of students. Stating that NEP 2020 seeks to bridge the gap between education and employ ability by ensuring that the skills imparted in schools and colleges are aligned with the demands of the job market.
The Governor stated that by 2047, “we envision a future where educational disparities are significantly reduced, and every child, regardless of their circumstances, has the opportunity to receive a high-quality education.”
