The Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan, graced the 53rd Vijay Diwas celebrations at Jakhama Military Station on 16th December 2024.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor remarked, “On this momentous occasion of Vijay Diwas, the gathering at the Jakhama Military Camp is to honor the valor, bravery, and sacrifices of our armed forces. The victory of 16th December 1971 did not just reshape borders; it restored dignity, justice, and humanity to millions. Our dedicated soldiers showcased unparalleled courage and resilience, ensuring peace and sovereignty. Today, we celebrate the victory they achieved and the spirit of sacrifice that came with it.”

The Governor lauded servicemen and servicewomen across the nation, saying that they stand as a testament to commitment and service. “Their relentless dedication protects our freedoms and nurtures the hope of a safe and prosperous country. We, as citizens, salute them for the vital role they play,” he said.

He further emphasized that the event is an opportunity to reflect not only on past glories but also to recommit to the values upheld by the armed forces—unity, courage, and sacrifice. “It is a reminder that our strength as a nation is tied to our ability to stand united, irrespective of challenges. Let us also acknowledge the families of our soldiers, whose quiet strength upholds our military’s resilience. Your unflinching support forms the foundation upon which our soldiers stand tall,” the Governor added.

As the celebrations continued, the Governor urged the gathering to remember those who laid down their lives in service to the nation. “They are our true heroes, and it is our solemn duty to ensure that their sacrifices continue to inspire future generations. The legacy they forged is one of hope, resilience, and unwavering commitment to service and sacrifice for the nation,” he said.
