Khonoma, April 06 (MTNews): The Governor of Nagaland, La. Ganesan visited Khonoma – the first Green Village of India and Asia and held a short program at the Community Hall Terhotsiese, Khonoma on 6 April.

 

 

 

Speaking at the program, the Governor said that Khonoma village is very fortunate that God has given them a beautiful place and greenery. He said that his visit was to know what people want from the government and also urged the people “to insist to the government better road connectivity, School Institutions, Hospital, Banks, etc,” a press release from PRO Raj Bhavan Kohima said.

 

The Governor further informed that the Central Government provides various schemes / projects to benefit the people and that they should take up their requirements with the government.
Ganesan said he will discuss matters with the Chief Minister Neiphu Rio with regards to development in the state.

 

Acknowledging the Khonoma people for their warm welcome, the Governor expressed his happiness for the conservation of their forest.

 

The Governor also visited the viewpoint, Hiekha Morung and NSF Memorial, the release said.

 

The Governor was accompanied by Raj Bahavan officials including Commissioner and Secretary to Raj Bhavan, Wezope Kenye IAS, and SDO civil Sechu Zubza, Tiayanger Jamir.

 

Green Village and Khonoma Nature Conservation and Tragopan Sanctuary (KNCTS) chairman, Kezhaserie Meyase who briefed the introduction to Khonoma thanked the Governor for his visits and highlighted about demographic and topographic information, history, from hunting / logging community to conservation community, their success story, rich biodiversity and achievements, the press release said.

 

The program was chaired by Ronald Rokosekho Meru, while invocation was rendered by Rev. Father Vizo. Vote of thanks was delivered by Huzo Mezu.
