Anoop Khinchi, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Department of Health & Family Welfare, convened a meeting with members of the State Health Emergency Operation Centre to assess the department’s preparedness for a potential Mpox (Monkeypox) outbreak. Mpox has been declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
During the meeting, department officials provided a detailed presentation on the current status of public health readiness across Nagaland. Khinchi urged for readiness of all the Health Care Workers in all Health Units across the State, to take up the preparedness measures in all earnest so that the State is equipped to manage and handle any eventuality in the event of detection of Mpox in the State and thereby to reduce the impact of Mpox outbreak.
