Nagaland entered India’s competitive pickleball circuit in historic fashion with the successful hosting of the 1st Nagaland Pickleball Open, a PWR 50 sanctioned event, on Sunday at Aiko Greens, Dimapur. Organised by the Nagaland Pickleball Association (NPA) in collaboration with the Indian Pickleball Association (IPA), the event marked the state’s official debut in the rapidly growing sport.
The landmark tournament attracted 32 teams from across Nagaland and neighbouring states such as Assam, competing in Men’s Doubles Open and Mixed Doubles categories. The event witnessed an enthusiastic turnout of spectators and showcased spirited performances, underlining the region’s emerging talent and interest in pickleball.
The PWR 50 status of the tournament ensured national-level recognition and positioned Nagaland prominently on India’s pickleball map. The NPA credited the Assam Pickleball Association for its continued support, which was instrumental in facilitating the event.
Special appreciation was extended to Mr. Dilip Mohanty, who served as Tournament Director, ensuring seamless coordination and maintaining a high level of professionalism throughout.
The successful launch of the Nagaland Pickleball Open is seen as a significant step in promoting the sport in the Northeast. The NPA reaffirmed its commitment to building a vibrant and inclusive pickleball community in the state and thanked all participating teams, partners, and supporters for making the inaugural edition a resounding success.

Men’s Doubles Open
Winners: Mr. Megotsolie Khate & Mr. Vilasier Khate — awarded Rs 15,000 and the champions’ trophy.
Runners-up: Mr. Dilip Mohanty & Mr. Abyan Zaffar — awarded Rs 10,000 and runners-up trophies.
Mixed Doubles
Winners: Mr. Dilip Mohanty & Ms. Nazneen Rahman — received Rs 10,000 and trophies.
