With the increasing demand for various kinds of fruits and vegetables in the market and their mass production even during the off-season, a special drive on fruits and vegetables was conducted by the Food Safety Authority, Department of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland, in the districts of Mokokchung, Kohima, and Dimapur—i.e., the commercial distribution hubs for rural areas of the state.
In this regard, the Food Safety Officers (FSOs) collected both survey and enforcement samples for analysis, and on-the-spot adulteration tests were conducted by the Food Safety on Wheels (FSW) teams on the 1st, 7th, and 8th of May 2025.
A total of 18 samples were collected by the FSOs and sent to various laboratories, the analysis reports of which are awaited. Additionally, 28 on-the-spot tests were performed by the Food Technicians of the FSW teams. It is also stated that, depending on the laboratory reports, if any samples are found non-conforming, legal action will be taken against the defaulters.
