The opening match of the Nagaland Men’s Senior Inter-District Cricket Tournament was played between Kohima and Zunheboto.

 

Kohima after having won the toss and elected to bat first could manage to put up a target of 162 runs losing 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

 

Tapito Thupitor (50 runs), Seyievizo Zaputou (29 runs) and Hiketo (21 runs) were the major run contributors for Kohima. For Zunheboto, Aloto Zhimo, Hutoho Kiba and Heboto Shohe took a wicket each.

 

Chasing the target, Zunheboto had a good start as they crossed the 100 runs figure without losing a wicket. But they could not capitalize on their decent start as they fell short by 13 runs at the end of 20 overs. Hipito Assumi (82 runs) and Kihika Assumi (33 runs) were the highest run scorers for Zunheboto. For Kohima, Sepichem and Samuel Zaputou claimed a wicket each.

Result: Kohima won by 13 runs.

 

 

2nd Match: Dimapur vs Peren

In the second match played between Peren and Dimapur, Peren won the toss and elected to bat first. Peren were bowled out for 113 runs with Wahid Ali (74) as the leading scorer.
For Dimapur, Hopongkyu Sangtam took 4 wickets, Hem took 2 wickets while Nagaho and Akavi took a wicket each.

 

Dimapur easily chased down the target in just 12 overs losing a wicket. Shamphri, 62 runs not out, and Sedezhalie Rupreo (29 runs) helped Dimapur win the game.

Result: Dimapur won by 9 wickets.

1st Match (9:00 A.M) : Longleng vs Phek
2nd Match (1:00 P.M) : Zunheboto vs Peren

The tournament’s final will be played on June 18. It may be mentioned that 11 districts are participating in the tournament, divided into two groups. The leader of each group will play the final match.
