Two unstarred question raised in the Lok Sabha by Nagaland MP Supongmeren Jamir were disallowed by the Speaker. The questions were in relation to the two agreements signed between the Government of India and Naga Political Groups, and the other in relation to the Frontier Nagaland Territory issue of the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization.
According to the NPCC Communication Cell, the questions were disallowed on the grounds that the information sought under the questions was “secret” in nature and were in contravention of Rule 41(2) (xxi) of the “Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Lok Sabha”.
However, in response to subsequent requests by the MP, it was said that the Speaker has allowed the Frontier Nagaland Territory issue to be raised in the Lok Sabha for discussion under Rule 377 of the same Rules of Procedures and Conduct.
Further, the MP also called on Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, at his office chambers in Parliament today and apprised him of these two issues along with an update of his recent efforts to raise the issues in the Lok Sabha.
The NPCC Communication Cell said the MP remains committed to do everything in his powers to represent the Voice of the People of Nagaland.
