A “Public Awareness Campaign of Rivers” was held on February 27 under the aegis of the National River Conservation Directorate (NRCD), a centrally sponsored scheme under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, and was organized by the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Government of Nagaland.
The awareness campaign covered various Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) across the state, where a variety of activities were conducted.
In the morning, activities included the plantation of trees and flower saplings, along with the cleaning of the main water reservoir area of Kohima town by the state team to maintain cleanliness and enhance the area’s aesthetic beauty. Additionally, a waste-cleaning drive along the stretch of the Chathe River under Chumoukedima ULB was also conducted.
In the afternoon, a painting competition was organized for government school students under Pfutsero ULB on the theme “Every Drop Counts: Protect Your River.”
In the evening, cultural programs and awareness talks on the “Public Awareness Campaign of Rivers” were held under Chiephobozou ULB, featuring district resource persons from the PHED department.
