Officers of the Government of Nagaland have commenced a five-day management training program on “Public Policy & Process Re-engineering” at the auditorium of the Indian Institute of Management Shillong, focusing on citizen-centric governance, administrative efficiency and outcome-based service delivery.
The program is being organized by the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Centre for Policy Research and Analysis at IIM Shillong. The training for Nagaland officers is conducted by the P&AR Department in collaboration with the Administrative Training Institute (ATI), Government of Nagaland.
The primary objective of the program is to strengthen the role of government officers in improving service delivery, enhancing efficiency in government systems and equipping officials to translate policy into measurable developmental outcomes.
Planning Adviser of the North Eastern Council, Som Kamei, who attended as Chief Guest, emphasized the need for outcome-oriented governance, data-driven and evidence-based decision-making, and citizen-centric administration as key pillars for strengthening public trust.
Director (I/c) of IIM Shillong, Prof Nalini Prava Tripathy, stressed the importance of continuous capacity building and deeper engagement with public policy and leadership to ensure that development initiatives result in tangible benefits for citizens.
The five-day program covers leadership in public administration, project lifecycle management in government programs, fiscal and monetary policy, auditing in public sector governance, change management, data-driven decision-making, sustainable rural development and incorporation of SDGs into village-level planning.
The joint inaugural ceremony also includes a Leadership Development Program for Village Councils under the Rural Development & Administration Department of Mizoram, providing a platform for cross-learning and collaborative engagement among officials from Nagaland and Mizoram.
