The Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services has informed the piggery farmers in the State to get their pigs vaccinated against Classical Swine Fever as prevention before the onset of monsoon. Saying that the disease is endemic in Nagaland, the department informed that the pigs, preferably the breeding stock, can be vaccinated from the nearest Veterinary Institutes.

Further, all Chief Veterinary Officers have been requested to collect the vaccines from the Directorate Office during working hours for the year 2021-22. Vaccination may be carried out in “ring or cluster” depending on the “occurrence and epidemiological” pattern of the disease in the respective district. Due importance should be given in the border areas and stock routes.
