Mokokchung, 20 October (MTNews): Nagaland Police have arrested 90 individuals in the last month in connection with cases involving synthetic drugs, psychotropic substances, Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), and Arms and ammunition. During this period, 57 cases were registered, encompassing 36 related to Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances, 15 linked to IMFL, and 6 concerning Arms and Ammunition.
Among the arrests, 66 individuals were apprehended for Narcotics & Psychotropic Substances, 16 for IMFL offenses, and 8 for Arms & Ammunition violations. The police further reported the seizure of 8005 SpasmoProxyvon and other tablets, along with 5778.71 grams of Brown sugar and Crystal Meth, in addition to 213 grams of Heroin. Furthermore, 1659 bottles and 199.15 liters of IMFL as well as 19 units of Arms and ammunition were confiscated during this period.
Additionally, 136 raids were carried out, and 6776 Mobile Vehicle Check Posts (MVCP) were conducted, it said.
Nagaland Police said that it continues its statewide operations across all districts to combat the widespread availability and usage of synthetic drugs, psychotropic substances, and IMFL. This includes intensive vehicle checks (MVCP), frequent raids, and inspections of hotels and restaurants, with the aim of preventing any such illegal activities, it added.
Nagaland Police also appealed to the general public to report any information related to the sale or distribution of narcotics, drugs, or liquor to the nearest police station, Narcotic Police Station, or via the ‘Call Your Cop’ mobile app or the Madeinagaland platform. The identity of the informant will be kept confidential, ensuring their safety and anonymity.
