Mokokchung, 12 September (MTNews): With an aim to enhance refereeing competencies, skills and rules of volleyball game, and to promote the overall quality and standard of volleyball refereeing in Nagaland, the Mokokchung District Volleyball Association (MDVA) under the aegis of Nagaland Volleyball Association (NVA) and the Department of Youth Resources & Sports (DYRS) is organizing a Nagaland State Level Volleyball Referee Exam 2023 from 12 – 15 September at Multi-Sports Complex, Mokokchung.

Dr Harish Kumar Tiwari, certified FIVB Level–1 Coach and Deputy Director of Sports, Nagaland University, and Ramesh Babu Vidyarthi, National Referee, Volleyball Federation of India (VFI) and All India Referee Examiner are the two resource persons supervising and conducting the exam.

 

A total of 37 individuals are appearing for the Nagaland State Level Volleyball Referee Exam. Examinees are represented from Wokha, Tuensang, Longleng, Phek and Mokokchung district.

 

Meanwhile, Dr Harish Kumar Tiwari, dispelled the misconception that Nagas are “short in height” and have no scope in volleyball. He said that a person good in any sports can make a career out of it. He also said that if the examinees perform well, they can become professional referees.

 

Tiwari also informed about the Inter-University Sports Meet East Zone and said that any student enrolled under the Nagaland University from any college can participate in the trials, the details of which are given in the Nagaland University website.

 

Earlier, in a brief introductory program on the first day of the exam, Imtipokim, President, MDVA acknowledged the two resource persons and welcomed all the examinees.
