Frontier Warriors FC emerged victorious in a thrilling 6-4 contest against Sechu Zubza FC, while Barak FC continued their dominance with a commanding 5-1 win over 27 United FC. In the final match of the day, Nagaland United SC delivered a disciplined performance to defeat Longterok FC 3-0, handing them their first loss of the season. These results saw Barak FC maintain their lead at the top of the table, with NUSC moving to second place, just two points behind.

Frontier Warriors FC secure first win of the season in 10-goal thriller

Frontier Warriors FC (FWFC) clinched their first success of the season in a high-scoring contest against Sechu Zubza FC (SZFC), securing a thrilling 6-4 win at IG Stadium in Kohima. The match featured relentless attacking play from both sides, but FWFC’s clinical finishing and tactical superiority proved decisive.

SZFC started aggressively, pressing high and earning multiple set-piece opportunities. Their early dominance was rewarded in the 11th minute when Thejasetou Ajabu, assisted by Khiuwangbo, opened the scoring. However, FWFC responded with resilience, equalizing through Ayenmongba in the 20th minute. The momentum shifted further in FWFC’s favor when Longkhoi found the net in the 38th minute following an assist from Ayenmongba, giving the home side a 2-1 advantage at halftime.

The second half began with SZFC regaining parity as Rhitso Mero struck in the 47th minute. However, FWFC quickly regained control with a swift counterattack, resulting in Dangmei’s goal in the 58th minute. Just four minutes later, Dangmei doubled his tally with another composed finish, extending FWFC’s lead. Ayenmongba struck again in the 71st minute, further strengthening FWFC’s grip on the match. SZFC showed late resilience, with Pynbhalang scoring in the 86th minute, but FWFC responded immediately as Naresh found the net in the 89th minute. A stoppage-time penalty converted by Thejasetou Ajabu in the 95th minute proved to be a mere consolation for SZFC as FWFC sealed an emphatic 6-4 victory.

FWFC showcased remarkable adaptability, recovering well from an early setback to dominate possession and dictate the tempo. Their left-wing attacks consistently troubled SZFC’s defensive setup, with Dangmei and Ayenmongba proving to be the game-changers. SZFC, despite their aggressive start, struggled with defensive organization and conceded crucial goals from counterattacks and set-pieces.

Ayenmongba was named Player of the Match, delivering a match-winning performance with two goals (20’, 71’) and an assist for Longkhoi’s goal. His movement, creativity, and finishing ability were instrumental in FWFC’s commanding win.

With this win, FWFC moves up to fifth position in the standings with 4 points, just behind SZFC, who also has 4 points, but leads on goal difference. With the season progressing, both teams will look to refine their strategies as they aim for a strong finish in the inaugural Nagaland Super League.

The league leaders delivered a clinical first-half performance, netting all five goals before the break, leaving their opponents struggling to respond.

Barak FC took an early lead in the 4th minute when Kevisanyu capitalized on a well-executed set-piece, assisted by Peseyie. The relentless attacking pressure saw Laiwang Bohham strike twice in quick succession (27’, 28’), further extending the lead. Nagaland United SC sees off Longterok FC with 3-0 win

Nagaland United Sports Club delivered a commanding performance, securing a 3-0 victory over Longterok Football Club in the Nagaland Super League. The win marked Longterok FC’s first defeat of the season and propelled NUSC to second place in the standings, just two points behind league leaders Barak FC.

Visieto Thapru of Nagaland United SC and Marcus Malsawmzuala of Longterok (in black) vie for the ball during a Nagaland Super League encounter on Wednesday at the Football Stadium in Chumoukedima.

Despite Longterok FC dominating possession, their inefficiency in the final third and defensive lapses proved costly. NUSC, on the other hand, executed a disciplined defensive strategy and capitalized on counterattacks to seal the victory.

The first half remained goalless, with both teams creating opportunities but failing to break the deadlock. However, the second half saw NUSC take control, with Hahaî Kuki scoring twice to put his team in a commanding position. A late goal further solidified their dominance, leaving Longterok FC unable to mount a comeback.

Hahaî Kuki was named Player of the Match for his decisive contributions, leading NUSC’s attack with precision. While Longterok FC showed promise in possession, their inability to convert key chances ultimately led to their downfall. With this victory, NUSC strengthens its position in the title race, while Longterok FC remains in third place, now five points behind NUSC.
