Event aims to empower content creators and promote self-employment in creative industries
When influencers are shaping global narratives and redefining careers, Nagaland will host its first-ever Influencers Summit from October 18–20 at The Heritage, Kohima. The event is conceptualized and managed by Skills&Co | Synergy Group, presented by Bostimanu, with Toyota as the associate sponsor.
Speaking to Mokokchung Times, Namang Chang, member of Skills&Co | Synergy Group, said the core objective of the summit is to uplift and empower content creators. Describing it as a “privilege to hold this for the first time,” Chang said the summit aims to give recognition to creators and help them find their niche.
He expressed confidence that the summit could bring about a positive socio-economic impact. “This would help youth become self-employed in a creative field and also give them validation in society,” he stated.
On the final day, an awards ceremony has been planned across various categories to formally recognize content creators. In a state where mainstream jobs continue to dominate career aspirations, Chang believes that giving influencers recognition “may help shift the mindset that success and purpose can also come from conventional professions.”
He further noted that such recognition could add market value, encouraging big brands to collaborate with local creators. “People from external markets will also value our content creators more when there is a sense of formal recognition and credibility attached to their work & ideas,” he said, while acknowledging that societal perception may not change overnight – “but we have to begin somewhere.”
The organizers plan to make the summit an annual event, with strong community support already coming in. This year’s awards are based on self-nominations, and the three-day program will feature panel discussions, skill-building sessions, and workshops.
Sony India will conduct videography and photography workshops, while a jewelry-making session in partnership with Erui Designs will also be held. Panel talks curated by DIPR will bring journalists and media professionals together to discuss responsible journalism and media ethics. TAFMA will lead discussions on Fine Arts and Performing Arts, while sessions on GST and financial management aim to educate creators on the business side of their craft. Concerts and other creative showcases will round off the event among many others.
