Nagaland University will launch a new undergraduate program in Basic Sciences starting from the academic year 2025-26. Additionally, the university will establish a Multidisciplinary Research Centre to expand its offerings in Basic Sciences.
Initially, the new centre will offer three-year and four-year undergraduate programmes in Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and Zoology. In the coming years, it plans to expand its academic offerings by introducing Integrated Postgraduate programmes in these disciplines.
Additionally, PhD programmes will be launched in both sciences and social sciences, with an emphasis on multidisciplinary research. The centre will also introduce Integrated PhD programmes, combining postgraduate and doctoral studies, to further promote advanced research in these fields.
Admission and Eligibility
The undergraduate and integrated postgraduate programmes will begin with a total intake capacity of 50 students across all disciplines.
To be eligible, candidates must have secured at least 60% in academics up to Class 12 or an equivalent examination. Additionally, a valid CUET (UG) score in the relevant discipline is required for application.
Programme Structure
The UG programme aims to develop students’ competencies in arts, humanities, languages, natural sciences, and social sciences while fostering skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication.
Students will receive rigorous training in their chosen major and minor subjects.
At the end of the first year, students may opt to change their major within broader disciplines, including Natural and Physical Sciences, Mathematical and Computational Sciences, Library and Media Sciences, Commerce and Management, and Humanities and Social Sciences.
