Team India clinch 2 Silver, 7 Bronze Medals

Team Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) returned home safely today with a historic medal win at the Asian Belt Wrestling Alysh Championship 2025, held in Delhi from May 21 to 26, 2025.

Team NWA arrives at Dimapur Airport on May 26 after representing India at the Asian Belt Wrestling Alysh Championship 2025, held in Delhi from May 21 to 26.

According to the NWA Media Cell, Team India secured a total of 2 Silver and 7 Bronze Medals during the championship. Notably, Team NWA contributed 1 Silver and 5 Bronze Medals to Team India’s tally — a first-of-its-kind achievement for Nagaland in an international wrestling championship.

Team NWA contingent included 15 athletes, 1 UWW-nominated referee, 1 newly observed referee, and 7 officials, all of whom represented India during the week-long championship.

The NWA extended its heartfelt gratitude to the Government of Nagaland for its financial and logistical support, and to the Directorate of Youth Resources & Sports (YR&S) for financial assistance. Special thanks were also conveyed to Dr. Keneilhouthoulie Miachio, Chief Conservator of Forests, Durg Circle, for graciously hosting a dinner in honour of the team.

The NWA further expressed its appreciation to all wrestling enthusiasts for their support in various forms — especially prayers and moral encouragement — which played a vital role in motivating the team to earn these prestigious medals for the nation.
