Vevoyi Wideo, a former student leader and prominent youth figure from Nagaland, has been appointed as a National Vice President of the National People’s Party (NPP) for the 2025–2028 tenure. His appointment was officially announced on April 17.
The newly constituted national committee of the NPP will be led by Conrad K. Sangma, Chief Minister of Meghalaya, who continues as the National President. James PK Sangma from Meghalaya has been named the National Working President, while Dr Mehtab A Sangma (MLA, Meghalaya) will serve as Treasurer.
Others appointed as National Vice Presidents include Agatha K Sangma (Meghalaya), SL Kol (Madhya Pradesh), and Pesi Jilen (MLA, Arunachal Pradesh).
The National General Secretaries are Paknga Bage (Organisation), representing Arunachal Pradesh, and Abhaya Kashyap (Law & Administration) from Delhi.
The National Secretaries include Tapi Darang (MLA, Arunachal Pradesh), Dr. M. Ampareen Lyngdoh (MLA, Meghalaya), Samuel Sumi (Nagaland), and Saidul Khan (Meghalaya).
The newly appointed National Committee Executive Members are Washi Yalem, Yura Mary, and Namgey Tsering (MLA) from Arunachal Pradesh; Santa Mary Shylla (MLA), Grace Mary Kharpuri, and Pyniaid Sing Syiem from Meghalaya; Ratika Yumnam, W. (O) Sumati Devi, Maibam Dhanabir Singh, Sazad Bhuiya, and Janghemlung Panmei (MLA) from Manipur; and Avitso Lcho and Philip Lam from Nagaland.
Following the announcement, the NPP Phek District, in a press communiqué issued on April 19, extended congratulations to Wideo on his new role. The district unit viewed the appointment as a strategic step in strengthening the party’s efforts to empower emerging leaders and expand its organizational reach. It highlighted Wideo’s active participation in the previous State Assembly election and his longstanding involvement in student and youth organizations as evidence of his dedication and capability.
The communiqué further noted that Wideo’s leadership qualities, experience in public service, and political background would serve as valuable assets for the party’s growth.
The party unit also conveyed its appreciation to NPP National President Conrad K. Sangma, National Working President James P.K. Sangma, and Nagaland State President A. Nyamnyei Konyak for reposing faith in Wideo and entrusting him with a national responsibility.
Similarly, the NPP unit of the 17th Chizami Assembly Constituency conveyed its felicitations to Wideo, describing him as a prominent youth leader and the party’s previous candidate from the constituency. The unit expressed optimism that his appointment would further strengthen the party’s position both within the constituency and across the region.
It also acknowledged Wideo’s consistent commitment to public service and organizational work and extended gratitude to the party’s top leadership, including State Working President Dr Tseilhoutuo Rhutso, for the recognition accorded to a grassroots leader from the state.
