Kohima, 15 March (MTNews): The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) convened a meeting with the newly appointed Heads of Institutions was convened at the Platinum Hall of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC), Bayavü Hill, Kohima on 14 March. The gathering was attended by Heads of Institutions representing 160 schools from all sixteen districts of Nagaland.

Chairing the meeting was Rangumbuing Nsarangbe, Secretary of NBSE, highlighted that such meetings with new heads are a regular activity of the Board every year, emphasizing their increased significance with the introduction of the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The keynote address was delivered by Asano Sekhose, Chairperson of NBSE, who extended Golden Jubilee greetings to all participants, marking the 50th year of the Board. She introduced the theme of the Golden Jubilee – “Ever Evolving and Redefining,” urging everyone to embrace continuous evolution and redefinition. Sekhose emphasized the pivotal role of school heads in fostering not only academic performance but also innovation aligned with the goals of education under NEP 2020. Education for the 21st Century aims to cultivate lifelong learners, fostering a desire to learn, unlearn, and relearn. She reminded the Heads of Institutions of the importance of competency-based education and focusing on learners’ expected outcomes.
Dr Bendangla, Associate Professor at SCTE, Kohima, served as the Resource Person, delivering a presentation on the “Role and Responsibilities of Heads of Institutions in the Implementation of NEP 2020.” She elaborated on various responsibilities, including curriculum reforms, community engagement, infrastructure development, assessment strategies, and technological integration. Dr Bendangla stressed the importance of inclusivity, sustainability education, adaptability, and vision-setting for school leaders. She concluded by urging school leaders to lead by example and emphasized the distinction between being a school leader and merely a manager.
The second session commenced with a presentation on IT matters by the Chief Coordinator of IT at NBSE, highlighting various IT initiatives, including district-wise WhatsApp groups, financial literacy groups, and the NBSE portal.
Iluheing Nsarangbe, Joint Secretary (Academic) at NBSE, discussed academic and examination-related activities and initiatives, emphasizing their alignment with NEP 2020.
Following an interactive session, the Secretary of NBSE concluded the meeting with remarks and proposed a vote of thanks.
