The Nagaland Conservatory of Music Choir will present a special Worship Concert at Mokokchung Town Baptist Church on August 30 at 5 pm. The concert is open to all communities and will feature an evening of worship, fellowship and choral music.
The Nagaland Conservatory of Music Choir has earned recognition through performances in India and abroad. It has represented India at international platforms in Norway, Belgium, Spain and Ireland, with its most recent international engagement held in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The performances have helped showcase Nagaland’s choral traditions to audiences beyond the region.
The concert will be conducted by Lipokmar Tzudir, a prominent Indian choral conductor and musician from Mokokchung. He has contributed to the development of choral music and music education in India for more than two decades.
Tzudir led the Patkai Chorale from 2009 to 2010 and later formed and led the Nagaland Singing Ambassadors from 2010 to 2012. In 2005, he established the Mokokchung Chancel Choir, which went on to gain national recognition and receive several honours.
In 2012, Tzudir established the Nagaland Conservatory of Music (NCM) with the vision of providing quality music education and opportunities for aspiring musicians. The institution, now affiliated with Nagaland University, focuses on grooming music educators, performers and future leaders in music and has emerged as an important destination for professional music education.
The Mokokchung concert will feature sacred music, African-American spirituals, contemporary Christian compositions and creative arrangements of traditional hymns. The repertoire will blend the character of traditional sacred music with contemporary choral expression.
More than a musical performance, the event aims to provide an atmosphere of “worship, reflection, celebration and fellowship”, bringing people together through music.
The Nagaland Conservatory of Music Choir has invited the people of Mokokchung and surrounding areas to attend the special concert.
