The Nagaland Contractors & Suppliers Union (NCSU), Head Office, Kohima, has submitted a representation to the Chief Secretary of Nagaland, urging the strict implementation of 100% reclamation machine usage in the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-III (PMGSY-III) projects, as per the Detailed Project Report (DPR).
In its letter, the Union stated that it is committed to fighting for “the interest of common cause and seeking justice.” The representation highlighted that upon inspecting the progress of PMGSY projects, the Union found that out of 40 projects, only one reclamation machine was installed at the Rusoma Village site. This, the Union pointed out, was a serious deviation from the original tendering process, where the Nagaland Public Works Department (NPWD) had mandated “100% using reclamation machine.”
Expressing concern over the slow progress of PMGSY-III projects, the Union noted that work orders were issued to contractors on March 21, 2024. However, “after a gap of 12 months, many projects are still at 5-10% physical progress.” The Union strongly insisted on “early completion and maintaining quality of workmanship on top priority with 100% reclamation machine.”
The NCSU further warned that it will “not compromise with any changes of modality at any cause” and demanded strict adherence to the terms and conditions outlined in the guidelines. It stated that “any lapses of terms & condition as per guideline shall not be compromised,” and if any violations occur, “the concern department as well as Firms shall be held responsible.”
The Union urged immediate action on the matter, stating that its appeal for necessary intervention was “highly solicited.”
