NDPP candidate Bendangkumba Aier of Majakong has officially declared his candidature for the upcoming ULB election at Majakong Community Hall on 20 June.

Speaking at his candidature declaration program, Bendangkumba Aier stated that over time, during his stay in Majakong, he has observed both the strengths and weaknesses of the ward. This is why he is contesting, with the aim to advance Majakong ward, he said.

Explaining his decision to contest the election on an NDPP ticket, Bendangkumba cited the opposition-less government in Nagaland. He argued that public development can only be achieved through the ruling party. He also pointed out that the Congress party does not have any MLAs in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.

In his speech, Aier emphasized that he prefers action over words, stating, “Doing is better than talking.” He mentioned visiting 100% of the households in Majakong Ward and noted that 60% of these households have unemployed youths dependent on their parents. He expressed concern over this issue and emphasized that youth empowerment would be a priority in his work. He also requested the support of the people to give him the opportunity to serve them.

Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by Chuba, Advisor of NDPP Majakong Unit, and short speeches were given by Majakong Ward Yimden; Kughavi Assumi, Chairman of the Sumi Community; Dr. SS Aka Longchar, President of Sungratsu Senso Senden Mokokchung; N Bendang Jamir, Working President of NDPP Nagaland; Mayangnungba, President of NDPP Mokokchung Region; and Yimya Jamir, President of 25 Mongoya A/C NDPP.

Majakong Ward will witness a straight contest between the NDPP candidate Bendangkumba Aier and the Congress candidate Bendangienla O.
