A free medical camp focusing on bone mineral density and ECG screening has been launched in five wards under the 27 Mokokchung Assembly Constituency. The camp, jointly organized by the 27 Mokokchung Town AC NDPP Youth Organization and Nagaland Minerals and Mines CSR, kicked off at Kichutip Ward at 7:00 AM today, July 17.
The medical team with six members including a doctor, 2 nurses, 1 pharmacist and 2 technicians from Guwahati, will cover a minimum of 700–800 residents over the course of the next three days. Salangtem Ward was scheduled next at 1:00 PM later in the day. The camp will then move to Aongza and Kumlong wards on July 18, and Mongsenbai on July 19.
Speaking to MT, Imliyanger, President of the 27 Mokokchung AC, NDPP Youth Organization, said the initiative is aimed at benefiting the people. “We organized this camp to ensure that the people under 27 Mokokchung Town AC -both young and old are benefitted,” he stated.
“We are grateful that when the 27 Mokokchung Town AC Youth Organization proposed this initiative to our MLA & Minister Metsübo and his family willingly agreed to help us in this initiative. We are very grateful to him and his family,” he added.
When asked why the focus was on health, Imliyanger explained that the initiative reflects the leadership’s commitment to holistic development. “Our MLA Metsübo Jamir and Temjenmoa, proprietor and Managing Director of Nagaland Minerals and Mines CSR, have been consistently working for all-round community growth — whether it’s sports, education, or other grassroots development therefore, this time, we thought we could aid the public more through the health camp,” he said.
In cases where bone density issues are detected, patients were given appropriate medication. A window period is also expected to be announced for those who may miss the camp on scheduled dates.
They further clarified that the initiative is not intended as “appeasement politics,” but is rooted in genuine concern for public welfare.
“We believe a political party is nothing without the people,” said a party worker. “We’re sticking to our motto — Facta non verba — deeds, not words. We want to show through action, not just promises.”
Asked whether this was a one-time initiative, organizers expressed hope that similar camps and outreach programs would be conducted in the future, “in an even better way.”
