NDPP Mokokchung felicitates elected legislators, inducts new president

In a program felicitating the elected National Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) legislators and party leaders of Mokokchung district on Saturday, the legislators’ focus was on discussing ways to improve the overall well-being and development of the district.

The felicitation program of the 6 elected NDPP MLAs organized by the party’s Mokokchung Region was attended by 3 legislators at the party treasurer’s residence in Kumlong Ward.

The discussion revolved around identifying the areas that need improvement and brainstorming solutions that were held among the Ao legislators which can help enhance the quality of life for everyone in the district.

Some of the topics discussed included water sources, healthcare, education, sports opportunities, and public safety.

Rio “Uncrowned King” of Nagaland: TN Mannen

TN Mannen, Advisor for Law & Justice and Land Revenue, said that he thought there would be a strong opposition in the state Assembly this time but all 60 MLAs extended support to the Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and said that he is being described as the “Uncrowned King” of Nagaland.

Defending the CM, he said, “Rio is also a human being so he might not adhere to all his commitments but we should in a timely manner approach him and express our grievances.”

With regards to Mokokchung district, he said that all the 11 Ao legislators are discussing among themselves to bring a significant change in the district which he said will be “acceptable to everyone.”

The advisor also declared that in 2026, the delimitation will come “whether we like it or not.”

He further encouraged the party Region to assist the elected representatives to let the opinions of the grassroots be heard as, according to him, the legislators are the “guardians of the public’s rights.”

Temjenmenba lists developmental plans for Mokokchung

Meanwhile, Temjenmenba, Advisor for Transport and Technical Education in his address recalled how all 11 Ao legislators had a meeting at Advisor Imkong L Imchen’s residence where they discussed how to bring about changes in Mokokchung.

He said that the legislators discussed at length to bring about a change in Mokokchung. “If not, we would be useless at being elected,” he said.

The Advisor said that the core issues that were discussed in the said meeting were: The issue of water scarcity in the district and how to tackle it; To tackle the traffic congestions in the district by building a Ring Road; to upgrade the IMDH which will benefit citizens of 2-3 districts, and, with the help of the center, to bring a sports academy in the name of Dr T Ao.

He questioned how even with so many legislators in the district, there are not even basic amenities. He said that “it needs to be changed.”

Imkongmar encourages party fold

Speaking at the event, Imkongmar, Advisor, Minority Affairs and Sericulture expressed gratitude for the felicitation and spoke about how Mokokchung Region of the NDPP should support the party in the state and the Chief Minister. He urged the party workers to work hard to uplift and support the legislators as well as the party in general.

Also in the program, felicitation of “immediate past president” N Bendang Jamir and induction of incoming president NDPP Mokokchung Region Mayangnungba were conducted.

The Program was chaired by Lipokzulu, Vice president NDPP Mokokchung Region; the dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Sentiyanger, Pastor Ngati Baptist Church; while Repameren, General Secretary, NDPP Mokokchung delivered the vote of thanks.
