Appreciates SMCs and SMDCs for driving positive change in government schools across Nagaland
The Nagaland Education Project—The Lighthouse (NECTAR) has announced that its Performance Incentive Grants (PIG) initiative has been conferred the “CIPS Innovation Award 2024” in the education sector.
According to DIPR report, the award was presented by the Centre for Innovations in Public Systems (CIPS), Hyderabad, “an autonomous centre of the Administrative Staff College of India, established by the Government of India.”
Highlighting the significance of the award, NECTAR pointed out that CIPS is “a national body” whose mission is “to help create and nurture a climate for accelerating and diffusing innovations in public systems.”
To realize this mission, NECTAR noted, “CIPS honors the best innovative practices by scouting and spawning new innovations that will bring about positive changes in the culture as well as the structure of governance across states.”
The PIG initiative under NECTAR has been implemented to strengthen grassroots school governance. “Through the PIG, a total of 1,914 School Management Committees (SMCs) and School Management and Development Committees (SMDCs) have received capacity-building support across Nagaland,” the DIPR report informed.
NECTAR attributed the success of the initiative to the “active participation of the SMCs and SMDCs, along with the selfless contributions of the communities,” stating that the Performance Incentive Grants are “successfully improving the learning environments of Government schools and enhancing the sense of ownership and responsibility among the community.”
Further, NECTAR acknowledged the critical role of community leaders and members, stating that “the cooperation and inputs from the community leaders and members have been instrumental in driving the progress.”
As it celebrates the national recognition, NECTAR extended its gratitude, saying it “has extended appreciation to all the SMCs and SMDCs for their dedication and looks forward to their continued partnership in the days to come.”
