Mokokchung, October 11 (MTNews): The District Institute of Education & Training (DIET), Yimyu, Mokokchung on Tuesday unveiled a new building with guest of honour Pekruzetuo Kesiezie, Joint Director, SCERT Nagaland gracing the occasion as the inaugurator.

Pekruzetuo Kesiezie during his speech stressed on the vision of the New Education Policy 2020, to make all teacher training institutions multi disciplinary by 2030, which entails setting up new infrastructures.
He went on to say that DIET Mokokchung which is among the eight DIET institutes in the state has the most potential for expansion in terms of land area. “However, to achieve that, we must be responsible and protect what we have by recognizing the greater good of the very existence of the Institute in resonance with the understanding that the Institution benefit the people of the region and the Nagas in general,” he added.
Kesiezie further added that the completion and inauguration of the building should not be an end in itself but serve as an initial step towards greater development.
The Joint Director also observed that with the change of time, Teacher Education should also be in tune with the needs of the society which according to the NEP 2020 requires for being innovative, particularly in reviving the indigenous system of knowledge, while being able to address the educational needs of the modern Naga society.
He went on to encourage the trainees by stating that recruitments in the State were becoming progressively fair and transparent with the Centre and State appointing only trained teachers.
Earler in the program, Tianaro, Principal, DIET Mokokchung during her welcome address praised the workmanship of the contractor and went on to challenge the students to be more proactive and take advantage by making use of the new building to enhance their knowledge.
Puryabang, Pastor, Yimyu Baptist Church said the dedicatory prayer while Meritoshi, Contractor delivered a brief report and Temsuwabang, Vice Principal DIET Mokokchung gave the vote of thanks. The program was chaired by Ayimsungla, Lecturer DIET Mokokchung.
