In a major step to enhance student facilities and promote academic research, Nagaland University’s School of Agricultural Sciences (SAS), Medziphema Campus, officially inaugurated new Boys’ and Girls’ Hostels along with The Study Falcon Project, funded by ICAR, during a ceremony held at the Multipurpose Hall on February 28, 2025.


The event was graced by Dr. R.C. Agrawal, Deputy Director General (Education), ICAR, New Delhi, as the Chief Guest, with Prof. Akali Sema, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Nagaland University, Medziphema Campus, presiding over the function. Also present were Dr. I. Shakuntala Devi, Dean of the College of Veterinary Science (CAU), Jalukie, and Dr. Girish Patil S., Director of NRC Mithun.

The programme began with a dedication prayer led by Pastor Nahang Chawang from the Spirit of Faith Church, Medziphema. This was followed by the unveiling of the inaugural plaque and ribbon-cutting by the Chief Guest, marking the official opening of the newly constructed hostel buildings.

In his address, Dr. R.C. Agrawal highlighted the growing importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education, stating that AI is the need of the hour and that today’s students will play a key role in achieving “Viksit Bharat 2047.” He also commended Nagaland University for incorporating technology and research-based learning into its academic environment.

Prof. L. Daiho, Dean of the School of Agricultural Sciences, welcomed the gathering, after which Er. Merijan Tsopeo, J.E. (C), presented the construction report.

Adding a cultural element to the occasion, students from the Students’ Union, NU SAS, performed a special musical piece. The event continued with a technical briefing on The Study Falcon Project by Mr. Vinay Goel, Core Team Member, and Dr. Mary N. Odyuo, Principal Investigator.

The project, designed specifically for ST (Scheduled Tribe) students, offers an AI-powered platform to help students prepare for competitive exams with high-quality study materials, interactive tools, and personalized guidance.

Students and faculty from across Nagaland University attended the event, contributing to meaningful discussions on technology and student development. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Anthony V. Richa, Deputy Registrar, followed by a session on The Study Falcon Project.
