New village gate of one of the oldest Rengma villages inaugurated

Tseminyu, December 10 (MTNews): The inauguration program for the newly constructed Village Gate of Kashanyu village which is one of the oldest Rengma villages under Tseminyu District was held today at the Council Hall, Kashanyishin today.

 

 

Kegwayhun Tep, President NSF, who also hails from the same village, inaugurated the Village Gate. As Special Guest of the event, Tep informed the villagers not to accept money in exchange of votes during the forthcoming General Election in order to bring about the desired change and development in the village.

 

Further, he also called for unity among the Kasha citizens while maintaining harmonious co-existence with those people living in close proximity in order to progress as a people and to live at par with the rest of the Naga people.

He added that Khwenphen,under Kashanyu village, which is also one of the first Rengma villages, is a historical site of significant importance, particularly for the Rengma, Sumi and Lotha tribes, wherein as per historical records, the aforementioned tribes once lived at Khwenphen before dispersing to their present regions of inhabitation.

 

Further, he said that considering its historical significance, Khwenphen and Mount Terogu qualifies every merit and are potential sites to become major tourist centers if properly developed, while also appealing to the state government and the department concerned for necessary developmental works of the site.

 

The construction for the village gate was sponsored by Er. Tesinlo Semy, Rtd. Joint Director, Geology & Mining, Nagaland, and family. The program concluded with a prayer by Sam Tep, Pastor, Kashanyishin Baptist Church.
