The newly appointed Ato Kilonser/General Secretary of the GPRN/NSCN, Alezo Venuh, was sworn in on 22 April at its Council Headquarters, Khehoyi designated camp, a day after the National Tatar Hoho impeached N Kitovi Zhimomi in an Emergency session.

Addressing a press conference following Venuh’s induction, GPRN/NSCN Kilonser Huvito Yepthomi stated that Zhimomi’s impeachment was prompted by circumstances stemming from resentment among functionaries towards his leadership. Yepthomi described it as a consensus decision involving the organization’s army setup, National Political Advisory Council, Advisor to the Collective Leadership, Cabinet, and Kilonsers, which received the President’s approval. Yepthomi also mentioned that Venuh, who previously served as the Special Envoy to the Collective Leadership and Coordinator of the Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups (WC, NNPGs), took the Oath of Allegiance on the same day.

C Singson, Advisor to the Collective Leadership, said that an organization or government operates based on established protocols rooted in consensus or collective decision-making. He expressed that the GPRN/NSCN was not happy to take this step and efforts were made to implement “corrective measures,” but Zhimomi remained unresponsive.

Singson further noted that Zhimomi no longer holds the position of Ato Kilonser/General Secretary of the GPRN/NSCN and may not retain the role of Convenor of the WC, NNPGs. He clarified that the decision to elect the next Convenor rests with the WC, NNPGs.
