The Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland, in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC), organized a one-day training on the NextGen e-Hospital system on May 7, 2025, at NIELIT, Kohima. The workshop focused on enhancing digital capabilities in district hospitals and was attended by Medical Superintendents, Nodal Officers, and DEO/LDA-CAs.
In her welcome address, Dr Vezukholu Theyo, Additional Director (IT), highlighted the importance of the next-generation hospital application in improving hospital operations, electronic health records, and integration with national health programs. She emphasized that feedback from users will play a key role in shaping the system’s success.
Anoop Kinchii, Commissioner & Secretary, HFW Nagaland, delivered the inaugural speech on Healthcare System Enhancement through Digital Connectivity, emphasizing how digital platforms can bridge gaps in healthcare access, improve diagnosis and treatment, and promote preventive health awareness.
Training Sessions and Key Highlights:
The technical sessions began with a comprehensive presentation on NextGen e-Hospital by Ravindra Kumar, Head of Department, NextGen e-Hospital, NIC. His presentation covered the platform’s core modules, system capabilities, and the implementation roadmap for district-level deployment.
This was followed by two in-depth sessions on Master Data Configuration (Parts I and II), conducted by the NextGen team from NIC Delhi, where participants were trained on customizing the hospital’s digital framework—covering departments, services, user roles, and data security settings.
Post-lunch, participants engaged in a hands-on session facilitated by NIC Nagaland, providing them with practical experience in system navigation, patient data entry, and operational tasks within the e-Hospital environment.
The day concluded with an interactive discussion and doubt-clearing session, jointly handled by NIC Delhi and NIC Nagaland teams. Constructive feedback was shared by participants, and suggestions for a phased rollout were discussed.
The wrap-up session was led by representatives from NIC Nagaland and the IT Section of DHFW Nagaland, outlining the next steps and the follow-up support structure.
The training marks a crucial step in Nagaland’s journey toward a modern, technology-driven public health system. With continued collaboration between the state health department and NIC, the successful rollout of the NextGen e-Hospital system is expected to enhance service delivery, ensure better patient outcomes, and lay the groundwork for a fully digitized healthcare ecosystem in the state.
