The Nagaland Football Association (NFA) has designated four host cities and districts for the conduct of the ASMITA City/District League Under-16 Girls 2026 across Nagaland, aimed at promoting women’s football and encouraging greater participation of young girls in the sport.

The decision was taken following resolutions adopted during the NFA Executive Meeting held on 25 March 2026 and in accordance with directions issued by the All India Football Federation (AIFF).

According to the NFA, Zone 1 will be hosted by Kohima and will include Kohima, Tseminyu, Phek, and Meluri. Zone 2 will be hosted by Chümoukedima and will cover Chümoukedima, Dimapur, Niuland, and Peren. Zone 3 will be hosted by Mokokchung and will include Mokokchung, Wokha, Zunheboto, and Longleng. Zone 4 will be hosted by Tuensang and will cover Tuensang, Noklak, Kiphire, Shamator, and Mon.

The league is open to players born on or after 1 January 2011 and on or before 31 December 2012. All city and district leagues are to be completed on or before 31 May 2026.

The tournament will be played in an 11-a-side format. Competitions with eight teams will follow a knockout format, while leagues with seven teams will be conducted in a round-robin format followed by a final. Squad size has been fixed at a minimum of 15 players and a maximum of 20.

The NFA stated that Rs 75,000 will be provided for each tournament as approved by the Sports Authority of India. Registration on CRS/CMS has been made mandatory.

Host districts have been asked to confirm participation, proposed dates, venue, and nominate a point of contact within three days, failing which hosting rights may be transferred to another district.
